Showtime has just announced that United States of Tara, starring Emmy Award winner Toni Collette and created by Diablo Cody, will be returning for a third Season. The news comes only a few days after the United States of Tara Season 2 premiere, where Tara struggled to keep her alters at bay before Buck eventually found his way back into Tara's life.

The second season will introduce Tara's new alter, Shoshana, a mysterious woman with a psychedelic flair and taste for diet soda. This brings us to a total of five alters, if we include the wild and personality-devoid Gimme character introduced during the latter half of Season 1. Will Season 3 include introduce a sixth alter? If anyone can pull off the endless array of believable on-screen characters, it's Toni Collette. Seeing Toni's deft ability to transform into such varied characters is half the fun of the show. However, too many alters may give viewers alter-overload.
